In order to learn how to do this I attended workshops provided by the late Larry Burkett, a well-know Christian financial counselor and trainer. I also read all of the literature on cutting expenses I could get my hands on.

For several years I conducted workshops in the evenings and on weekends, while working full time as a corporate executive. In 1994, I became a full time entrepreneur after being laid off from my corporate position. I continued to conduct budget workshops. I wrote my first book, 425 Ways to Stretch your $$$$.
